Sketch 2

This photo was taken in my backyard and it is a sketch that states one of my favorite quotes. Also added a sunflower in the middle because it is my favorite flower and thought it would tie in perfectly with my sketch. The quote states “life is too short, to be taken seriously” which I stand by that as my daily mindset because in an blink of an eye your life can change drastically and you never know when your last day is. So its important to have fun, be adventurous, and pursue your life the way you want it to be.

Sally Mann Blog

Sally Mann is a very unique person that has a very passionate side for photography. Although I didn’t agree with her taking naked images of her children for the world to see because not everyone I feel would look as it as an art of photography, which is very sad. I really enjoyed her artwork of landscape that was taken from her beautiful farm. The 8 x 10 view camera captured every image with such a detail that really captivated my eye. Overall, I really enjoyed viewing the artwork of Sally Mann because it allowed me to get a new lens on the insights of how a photographer creates their images.

Sketch #5

This is one of my classmates. I took this photo at Elk forest and decided not to uploaded for the Elk forest assignment. I was looking through the images that I took this weekend and none of them captured pushing for light like Dorothea Lange, but I was looking through my photos and this one stood out to me with the light coming through the top half of her head.

Elfin Forest

For this project, as a class we met up at Elfin Forest to photograph in this beautiful scenery. We also learned how to incorporate a diffuser and reflector in our images, which is represented in my second and last images. I really enjoyed doing this assigment because I learned how to capture light in a time that the light wasn’t as nice to take pictures in.

Sketch #4

This is my photo that represents lines. This photo is my bed dresser and it stood out to me because of the different lines it has on each sides. I took this image while it was already night time which is why the lighting is much more dim.
This photo represents texture. This comes from my kitchen counter, which is granite patterns of texture. I took this in the evening right after I got done with dinner. I believed this fit texture perfectly because of the different patterns it brings.
This photo represents pattern. This is my shower curtain and I really liked the pattern it had. I loved the two colors that it has because it allows the patterns to demonstrate more. I see this curtain everyday so why not take a picture of it.
This photo represents light. I took this photo at my bathroom and I took it very closed in to the light bulb to capture where the light is coming from. While taking this photo, it also captured the texture of the vase.

Sketch #3

This is Mitchell, he has been one of my best friends since elementary school. We decided to take this photo outside of his house when the sun was setting. He didn’t want to stare right in front of the camera, so he turned to the side.
This is Brian, my brother. We took this photo inside while the sun was glaring at him. He posed in front of the camera and decided to do a serious face.
This is my boyfriend, Joshua. This photo was taken at Oceanside while he was looking at the beach. It was mid day so the sun was bright and allowed the image to be captured nicely.

I am a Liberal studies major and aspiring future educator. Taking this course is very new to me, which I am very excited about. I decided to enroll into this course because I thought it would be interesting to learn more about photography. I hope I can accomplish new skills in this field and make improvements with my images by the end of this semester.
